Precision Diamond Wire Saw SVO-40
A precision diamond wire saw for vertical slicing and CNC profile cutting of hard, brittle workpieces. Work one cut at a time within a listed 400 × 400 × 300 mm envelope.
Where does SVO-40 fit in material preparation?
Choose this machine when the job is to separate a larger blank, open a slab, or follow a programmed contour before downstream finishing. The output is an as-cut workpiece that still needs the finishing allowance and inspection appropriate to its application. A profile-cutting machine should be selected against the drawing, not simply against the smallest number in a specification table.
The SVO-40 also serves as the current SVO series entry. This page covers this one documented model; it does not imply that larger or smaller SVO variants are available. For optical-communication components, the application brief identifies silicon carbide cutting and quartz rod inner-hole work as use cases to discuss with the cutting team.
How does this precision diamond wire saw make the cut?
The design uses open-end spooled wire in reciprocating motion, with a vertical cutting segment and CNC profile-cutting control. A single wire follows one cut at a time. There is no parallel multi-wire web producing a stack of slices in the same pass, so the relevant question is whether the cut path suits the component geometry and required production volume.
The concept above separates wire movement from programmed workpiece feed. It explains the cutting arrangement without claiming the exact guide-wheel path, spindle count or spool length. Those details must be checked against the final machine configuration. Wire diameter alone is not the finished kerf: the complete abrasive wire and the actual cutting conditions must be considered when planning stock allowance.
For an internal feature, provide the complete drawing and proposed access or threading arrangement. Inner-hole cutting is an application to review, not a claim that the machine drills an entry hole or makes every enclosed shape without preparation. Minimum internal radii and access dimensions have not been established in the supplied specification.
What should you send for a CNC profile review?
Define the finished part
Supply an annotated drawing showing the contour, internal features, reference surfaces and dimensions that matter. Separate the final dimension from the material left for later finishing. Identify which edges may be supported and which must remain accessible during the cut.
Define the incoming blank
State the material grade, dimensions, mass and orientation requirements. Include the proposed fixture, bonding layer or support arrangement. A blank fitting inside the nominal envelope does not by itself establish that the complete fixture and programmed travel will fit.
A straight cut and an intricate contour are different jobs. Avoid using a straight-cut result as proof of profile accuracy, or applying a nominal machine tolerance to every material. The trial should reproduce the geometry and inspection method that will be used for production decisions.
Materials and application boundaries
| Material / task | Application to review | Required confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Silicon carbide | Sectioning and programmed profiles | Grade, drawing, support and target edge condition |
| Quartz rods | Inner-hole and profile cutting | Material type, access, threading and internal geometry |
| Other hard, brittle materials | Drawing-led feasibility assessment | Material identity and a representative cutting trial |
The application brief supports the first two use cases. It does not provide a material-specific minimum slice thickness, guaranteed yield or throughput. Do not treat the broad material list in a supplier's series introduction as a validated cutting result for this model.
For material identification, consult the supplier's grade documentation. Useful background references include CoorsTek technical ceramic materials и Heraeus fused-silica knowledge base. These describe materials; they do not certify the cutting performance of SVO-40.
Technical specifications
| Параметр | SVO-40 |
|---|---|
| Maximum workpiece envelope | 400 × 400 × 300 mm |
| Worktable size | 400 × 400 mm |
| Listed maximum wire speed | 25 m/s, adjustable; not cutting feed |
| Listed platform load capacity | 500 kg; fixture and load distribution to be reviewed |
| Approximate machine mass | 2,600 kg |
| Listed machine power | 41 kW; final connected load to be confirmed |
| Control function | CNC profile-cutting control |
| Wire diameter and length | To be confirmed for the ordered configuration |
| Минимальная толщина среза | Not established in the supplied specification |
| Overall installation dimensions | To be confirmed before site planning |
These are listed machine data, not material-specific acceptance guarantees. Conflicting dimensions, wire sizes and feed values are withheld pending confirmation. The maximum wire speed is not the rate at which the workpiece advances through the cut.
Main assemblies and their roles
Wire drive and guidance
The servo-driven wire mechanism provides cutting motion while the guide system establishes the wire path. Discuss wire selection and the actual ordered routing together; this page does not assign a spool capacity or tension value absent from the confirmed data.
Table and workholding
The listed 400 × 400 mm table supports the fixture and workpiece. Review access for alignment, loading and unloading. A nominal load figure does not establish acceptable overhang or the clamping method for a fragile component.
Feed guidance
Linear guides and ball screws support controlled relative movement. The drawing determines which movements and clearances matter. No component brand or count is used here as a substitute for an agreed dimensional inspection.
CNC control and enclosure
The control provides profile-cutting functionality, while the protective enclosure separates operating space from the moving mechanism. Program preparation, operator access and safety arrangements should be reviewed with the final configuration and operating instructions.
SVO-40 or a multi-wire machine?
Use a single wire when the geometry calls for one cut path, a larger-section opening cut or an internal/profile feature. Use a multi-wire machine when the job is to make repeated parallel slices and the blank fits the selected model. Choosing solely by wire speed can overlook the difference between one cutting path and a parallel wire web.
| Job | Start with | Selection reason |
|---|---|---|
| Vertical sectioning or a programmed contour | SVO-40 | One cut path, with drawing-led setup |
| Laboratory or pilot batches of parallel slices | SOM200 | Compact multi-wire slicing |
| Evaluate oscillating slicing of hard materials | SOMIS-400 | Different cutting motion and application focus |
Compare production slicing options in the multi-wire model guide. For a thin-slice inverted configuration, review SOMI-430. Neither comparison establishes that the same fixture, cutting recipe or quality result transfers between machines.
Utilities, installation and support
Electrical supply, cooling, compressed air, environmental requirements and installation layout are confirmed with your order — please ask us. The published mass and power figures do not replace the approved foundation, handling or electrical drawings. In particular, the source contains two different overall dimension sets, so neither is used to plan the installation space here.
Before commissioning, agree on the workpiece handling method, safe access for wire changes and the operator procedures for loading and unloading. Follow the supplied safety instructions; this page is an equipment-selection reference rather than an operating manual.
Vimfun's stated support terms are a 12-month warranty and response within 12 hours. CE certification and free sample cutting are available under the confirmed project offering. The trial scope, sample requirements and order-specific documentation should be agreed directly; this page adds no unconfirmed delivery or resolution-time promise.
Send the drawing, material and intended cut
For a useful sample-cutting discussion, include the incoming blank dimensions, the finished geometry, allowable finishing stock and your inspection criteria. Identify whether you need a straight slice, an external profile or an internal feature. The team can then review the SVO-40 configuration and the scope of a representative trial.
