A useful vertical wire-cutting trial starts with a defined workpiece and a written acceptance plan. Specify what must be cut, how the blank will be held and which results will determine whether the proposed setup is suitable. A demonstration on an unspecified sample cannot establish performance for every material or geometry.
Use the SVO-40 product page as the equipment reference for a current single-wire application discussion. This checklist does not assign SVO-40 the specifications or functions of older machine models.
Prepare the drawing and material information
Provide the material identity, grade, incoming dimensions and condition. For crystal work, state the required orientation. Mark the intended cut on the drawing and distinguish a straight section from a profile or an internal feature. Identify the features that must remain intact for the next manufacturing step.
Include the expected variation between incoming blanks. If production includes several geometries, explain which setup changes the trial is expected to represent.
Agree on the fixture and cutting sequence
Review how the blank is located and supported, the access needed for the intended cut and how the separated piece will be handled. Confirm which fixture is supplied with the proposed configuration and which details require application-specific preparation.
Record the operating sequence from loading to inspection. For a profile or internal feature, ask for a review of the planned path and access requirements before assuming that a drawing is executable on the proposed configuration.
Define what will be measured
| Trial item | Agreement required |
|---|---|
| Dimensions | As-cut requirements, measurement locations and method |
| Edge and surface condition | Inspection method and permitted defects |
| Finishing allowance | Stock reserved for subsequent processing |
| Repeatability | Representative parts and conditions to include in the trial |
| Production workflow | Setup, cutting, unloading and inspection time to record |
Keep positioning specifications separate from measured part results. Avoid accepting an undefined “high precision” claim in place of the agreed inspection record. Additional guidance is available in the precision slicing quality-check article.
Review results and unresolved limits
Record the machine configuration, consumable specification, fixture and process settings used. Retain failed results alongside accepted parts, and identify any conditions that limited the trial. Do not extend a successful trial to a different material or larger blank without reviewing the change.
For quotation scope and operating-cost inputs, use the diamond wire slicing configuration guide. Installation, training and support should be confirmed in the actual quotation rather than assumed to be included.
Request an application review with the drawing, material identification and acceptance criteria. Those details allow the team to define the scope of a representative SVO-40 trial.
